Roxette Mini Biography

Roxette is a Swedish pop duo, consisting of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle.

This duo achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their hit singles "The Look", "Listen To Your Heart", "It Must Have Been Love" and "Joyride". All four songs became US #1 singles[1] and reached the upper regions of the charts all around the world. Their albums Look Sharp! and Joyride went platinum on both sides of the Atlantic, while the singles, "The Look" and "It Must Have Been Love," both received gold awards from the RIAA.

After their early success, Roxette went on to release three more studio albums, Crash! Boom! Bang! (1994), Have a Nice Day (1999) and Room Service (2001). Their last two releases were not released in United States and did not emulate the peak of Joyride. With Fredriksson's illness in 2002 and subsequent rehabilitation, the duo took a hiatus from recording new albums, but in 2006, their 20th anniversary year, they released The Rox Box, a four-CD box set. They have sold an estimated 45 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide, with over 2.7 million albums sales in the United States.

Roxette's songs continue to receive radio airplay. "It Must Have Been Love" and "Listen To Your Heart" have both recently received awards from BMI for four million radio plays.
