Gala (born Gala Rizzatto, on September 6, 1975) is an Italian NY based, singer songwriter. For her first album, "Come Into My Life", she was nominated for Best Female Artist at the COFA (Celebration of Female Artists) Awards in the UK and she received the Disc d'Or at the Midem in Cannes that same year[1]. Her single Freed From Desire, went Platinum and Diamond, and sold over 6 million copies worldwide. Freed from Desire had over 1.2 million viewers on YouTube in 2008 alone.

he has performed at venues such as Top of the Pops appearing side by side to artists such as Janet Jackson and U2 as well as at the Bercy Stadium in Paris and the Bulls Arena in Madrid, before an audience of more than 20,000 people.Her songs are still fixtures of popular radio channels worldwide.

Referred by her fans as a, “cult artist,” for her minimalist look and haunting voice, Gala disappeared from the dance scene leaving behind an air of mystery and expectation. Defying labels from the get go, Gala broke the deal with her European record company and moved to New York. It is in the music scene of New York City that Gala met producer Marcus Bell and electro-punk drummer Deantoni Parks (Kudu) who formed the backbone of Gala’s latest musical project, Tough Love. Marcus brought in guitarist J Freidman and Gala brought in world music bassist Itamar Ziegler (Balkan Beat Box) and producer Kevin Rudolf. Tough Love is the first record on Gala’s Brooklyn-based independent label, Matriarchy Inc.

The song "Faraway", which was in the top 10 and top 40 in a few European countries, has been featured in 2008 on new spot on national and cable TV in the U.S
