Referred by her fans as a, “cult artist,” for her minimalist look and haunting voice, Gala disappeared from the dance scene leaving behind an air of mystery and expectation. Defying labels from the get go, Gala broke the deal with her European record company and moved to New York. It is in the music scene of New York City that Gala met producer Marcus Bell and electro-punk drummer Deantoni Parks (Kudu) who formed the backbone of Gala’s latest musical project, Tough Love. Marcus brought in guitarist J Freidman and Gala brought in world music bassist Itamar Ziegler (Balkan Beat Box) and producer Kevin Rudolf. Tough Love is the first record on Gala’s Brooklyn-based independent label, Matriarchy Inc.

The song "Faraway", which was in the top 10 and top 40 in a few European countries, has been featured in 2008 on new spot on national and cable TV in the U.S
